A witness in the Vaimauga No.3 counter petition told the court that Taioaliiseu Fiti Aimaasu gave $2,000 to Vaola, saying that “This is for your sugar,” soon after announcing his intention to switch parties.
The hearing for the counter petition filed by Lautimuia Uelese Vaai against Taioaliiseu started on Tuesday before Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma and Justice Loau Donald Kerslake.
Lautimuia was excused from the court proceedings to attend parliament.
Lautimuaia’s response against the petition by Taioliiseu ended on Tuesday morning, with his secretary, Taupule, telling the court that Tualagi Telima Leaupepe was a constant visitor to Lautimuaia when he was the Minister for Finance.
She told the court that Tuaalgi would come for financial help.
