Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry has received 204 new patrol vehicles as part of efforts to modernize police equipment and improve road safety operations across the country.
The new fleet includes 154 Skoda vehicles and 50 Volvo patrol cars, with the keys officially handed over during a ceremony held at the ministry’s Auto Repair Base in Sofia.
The Skoda vehicles represent the first delivery under one of the largest public procurement procedures launched by the Interior Ministry. The original order, which included 1,265 vehicles worth more than BGN 126 million, was later reduced to 681 four-wheel-drive vehicles with a total value of around BGN 65 million (33 million euros).
The Volvo patrol cars were purchased under a separate project financed through Bulgaria’s National Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
The Interior Ministry said the new vehicles will be distributed among regional directorates throughout the country and will be used for patrol duties, territorial policing, and intensified road traffic control.
