SYRREO 2026, now in its 22nd year, continues to confirm Syros as a cultural destination with a diverse program of opera, chamber music, theater and educational events. Held under the auspices of UNESCO since 2025, the International Classical Music Festival of the Cyclades is the island’s longest-running classical music event and one of Greece’s oldest outside Athens. Under Artistic Director Nikolas Kavakos, upcoming highlights include a play exploring the role of suppressed women in ancient Greek tragedies, performances by opera stars Myrto Papatanasiu and Dimitri Platanias, the “We Listen to the Young” initiative and free activities for children and families.
