Operatives of the Amassoma Division of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered two locally made pistols and two rounds of 9mm live ammunition following a suspected cult-related clash in Amassoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests followed an incident that claimed the life of a 200-level student of Niger Delta University (NDU).
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Mohammed, said the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m.
According to him, the deceased, identified as Ebube Jonathan, a 200-level Management Science student of Niger Delta University, was attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants along Kabaka Street in Amassoma.
