The Abia Police Command has says, it arrested four suspected criminal gangsters/cultists and one other for stealing and vandalising government properties, while recovering firearms and other exhibits.
In a statement she issued on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka listed the suspects as Obioma Nmeribe (male), 22 years, Emmanuel Lekwechi (male), 25 years, Ikemefulla ThankGod Amadi (male), 25 years and Bright Nnabugu, male, 31 years.
According to her, exhibits recovered are, one (1) Beretta pistol with eight rounds, one (1) locally made pistol, Two (2) live cartridges, one (1) live ammunition, two (2) black berets, one (1) cutlass, one (1) digger, one (1) locally made single-barrel long gun, one (1) expended cartridge, and one (1) cutter and high-tension wire
The PPRO explained, “on Tuesday, 07/07/2026, leveraging on actionable intelligence that a suspected criminal gang numbering about 50 had gathered at Ubakala axis for cult activities” and following credible information, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, Olokoro, raced to the scene.
