Professor Amir Mohammadi
The University of KwaZulu-Natal is celebrating the international success of Professor Amir Mohammadi after he was ranked South Africa's leading scientist in engineering and technology and placed 316th globally in the 2026 Research.com Ranking of the World's Top Scientists.
Mohammadi, a professor of chemical engineering, was recognised by the internationally respected scientific ranking platform, which evaluates researchers based on the quality and impact of their publications, citation performance and overall contribution to advancing knowledge in their respective fields.
The annual rankings are regarded as a global benchmark of research excellence and scholarly influence.
In recognition of his research achievements and sustained leadership in the field, Mohammadi also received the 2026 Research.com Engineering and Technology Leader Award.
