Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus is set to rewrite the history books on Saturday by becoming the most-capped Springbok head coach of all time when his side faces Scotland at Loftus Versfeld.
While it is a remarkable achievement as he surpasses the record of former World Cup-winning coach Jake White, Erasmus would likely prefer as little attention as possible on the milestone, with his focus firmly on securing a second victory in the Nations Championship as he continues to build depth ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
A much-changed Springbok side will take on Scotland in the second round of the newly formed tournament, and the players selected have big boots to fill after last weekend’s impressive 45-21 victory over England.
That opening Test set the tone for the Boks’ season, and Erasmus will be eager to see his team maintain that momentum rather than dwell on his record-breaking appearance in the coaching box.
