We know that with Rassie Erasmus, little is done on the spur of the moment, especially team selection, so you could forgive the Springbok coach for having a chuckle when he was asked if he had based his team selection for Scotland this week on how the Scots performed at the weekend in Argentina.
The Scots beat the rusty Pumas and on Monday night were due to arrive in Pretoria for Saturday’s second-round Nations Championship match in Pretoria.
“No, this team was selected a while ago,” Erasmus said.
“This team was not picked with a particular opposition in mind; it is for us to make sure that when we go into the World Cup next year, we know who can do what and when, and under pressure or not under pressure.
