A sign marking the entrance to Philadelphia, where police recovered the body of a missing Chatsworth man during an ongoing murder investigation.
The investigation into the alleged mob justice killing of 38-year-old Cedick Jonathan van Schalkwyk has expanded after police recovered the body of a second Chatsworth man from a river near Philadelphia.
Van Schalkwyk was allegedly attacked outside his Chatsworth home late at night by a group of about 10 men who arrived in a bakkie and accused him of being involved in a robbery at a nearby farm.
Police have since confirmed that a 41-year-old Chatsworth man who was reported missing on Monday was found dead in the river on Wednesday. The discovery follows reports from community members that one of Van Schalkwyk's friends had allegedly been abducted after the attack.
Van Schalkwyk's nephew, who asked not to be named because he fears for his safety, said the group arrived at the family home demanding to see his uncle.
