Xolani Gumede/ March and March Chairperson at King Cetshwayo District.

King Cetshwayo March and March chairperson Xolani Gumede has defended Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma's leadership, saying branches in his district and neighbouring municipalities continue to support her leadership style and vision and that she remains firmly in control of the movement.

Speaking during a March and March protest in Empangeni against the participation of undocumented immigrants in the local economy, Gumede addressed social media rumours suggesting that some allies within the movement were attempting to undermine Ngobese-Zuma.

"There are firm and organised structures in place in various districts, like here in King Cetshwayo and in other nearby municipalities. All those structures report to the NEC of March and March, where Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma presides," Gumede said. "That should give you the impression that she is still in control and remains firmly influential in March and March."

Gumede said the district was choosing to remain focused rather than be distracted by online speculation.
