A 19-year-old student of Presidency College was injured after he was allegedly attacked by a five-member gang armed with knives near the college campus in Chennai on Wednesday.The victim, Kumar, a second-year B.A. Economics student from Tiruvallur district, sustained multiple cut injuries in the attack.According to the police, Kumar had gone to a food stall behind the college after classes, when five men arrived on two motorcycles and allegedly assaulted him with knives. The assailants fled the scene as students and passers-by rushed to his aid.He was taken to the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital in an autorickshaw and admitted for treatment.Based on an intimation from the hospital, the Marina police registered a case and launched an investigation.
