An Indian Army personnel, M. Vijayakumar (31), was attacked with knife by an armed gang for questioning a few youths for disturbing a dance programme held during a temple function near Thirumangalam on Saturday.The police said that Vijayakumar, who had come home on leave, had attended a temple festival at Santhanguid.During a cultural programme, C. Sooriya Maruthupandi and one unidentified person from O. Alanguluam, had disturbed the programme.After Vijayakumar questioned them, a quarrel broke out between them.However, later in the night, when Vijayakumar was sitting outside his house, the duo along with Chandra Maruthpandi and Sooriya Dhurkash (20) attacked him with knife.The injured military man was admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital with 15 sutures.Thirumangalam Taluk police have registered a case of assault against the four accused.
