Industrial engineering distributor BMG, a division of JSE-listed Invicta Holdings, has achieved a Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) Net Zero Waste Level 2 certification, marking a significant milestone in the company's sustainability journey and demonstrating how practical operational improvements can deliver measurable environmental and commercial outcomes.
The certification recognises BMG's achievement in diverting more than 90% of operational waste from landfill, through a structured programme focused on waste reduction, reuse, recycling and resource recovery.
The company says the certification reflects a broader commitment to embedding sustainability into everyday business operations, rather than treating it as a compliance exercise.
“This certification is the result of years of operational focus, employee commitment and a willingness to challenge the way we have always done things. Too often, sustainability is viewed as a theoretical concept or reporting requirement.
“Our approach has been different. We have focused on practical implementation, measurable outcomes and creating solutions that benefit both the business and the environment. Sustainability should not be something that sits alongside the business, it should become part of how the business operates every day,” says BMG sustainability manager and Invicta group sustainability lead Roland Bontinck.
