Eight life sentences for eight lives — the Gqeberha High Court has sentenced Mzwandile Mahambehlala for the 2023 Kwazakhele birthday party massacre.
A man who gunned down eight people at a Kwazakhele birthday party was slapped with eight life sentences by the Gqeberha High Court on Thursday.
Mzwandile Mahambehlala, 36, was sentenced for the January 2023 mass shooting in Maqanda Street, which also left three people injured.
He was convicted at the end of last month on 11 counts, including eight of murder.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment on each of the eight murder counts, 10 years for attempted murder, five years for unlawful possession of a firearm and three years for unlawful possession of ammunition.
