Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have neutralised two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of the Prince of Okun Owa, Idris.

The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a suspected ransom bag, and other exhibits.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Olusayo Babaseyi, on Thursday, said the command had recorded another breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping after sustained pressure on the gang led to the prince’s safe release, followed by an operation that neutralised two of the kidnappers.

The prince was abducted on June 30, 2026, at about 7.30pm, when the kidnappers invaded his residence at Okun Owa and whisked him away.

The statement read, “Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the activation of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supported by other tactical teams, to secure the victim’s release and apprehend those responsible.”
