Leeds United have completed the free transfer of Wales international Harry Wilson. The Athletic reported in June that Leeds had reached an agreement to make Wilson their first signing of the summer, following the expiration of his contract with Fulham. He was offered new terms at Craven Cottage, but joins Elland Road with a pay rise and a four-year deal.Leeds pursued Wilson heavily in 2025 and attempted to sign him last summer on deadline day, though a deal collapsed after a deal sheet was not completed before the 7 p.m. deadline. Leeds sources briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity, had indicated Fulham’s portion of the deal sheet was not completed before the deadline, while Fulham sources indicated the club had made clear to Leeds that Wilson was not for sale.
— Leeds United (@LUFC) July 8, 2026Wilson was an important part of Marco Silva’s team last season, scoring 10 goals and recording seven assists in 36 Premier League matches. His tally includes late winners against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion, and he was awarded the club’s player of the season award for 2025-26.Former Fulham head coach Marco Silva, who has since left the club to replace Jose Mourinho at Benfica. said in January his side had “to do the maximum to keep” Wilson beyond the expiry of his contract.Overall, Wilson recorded 36 goals and 46 assists in 187 appearances for Fulham, spanning his five years at the club after joining from Liverpool in July 2021, where he had come through the academy.Wilson spent 16 years with Liverpool, having joined aged eight. He made over 60 appearances for the under-21s and was considered among the brightest prospects in the academy, though made just two first-team appearances for the first team. Wilson had loan spells at six different clubs before joining Fulham permanently in 2022.The Athletic reported that Leeds have also explored a deal for former Borussia Dortmund attacker Julian Brandt. The West Yorkshire club are preparing for another Premier League season after preserving their top-flight status for the first time since 2021-22 by finishing 14th last season.‘Eminently sensible move’Just as they did with Lukas Nmecha 12 months ago, Leeds United have started their summer business with a free agent.Wilson has improved on the level Leeds initially wanted to recruit, is close with the four senior Wales internationals (Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Daniel James and Karl Darlow) on the books and is experienced enough to roll with the punches of the top flight’s bottom half. One statistic alone puts this coup into perspective — last season, only eight players across the Premier League were directly involved in more goals than Wilson (10 goals, seven assists). There is no guarantee Wilson can produce last season’s numbers, but Leeds are acquiring a known quantity.Much in the same way Leeds felt confident last summer that a healthy Dominic Calvert-Lewin would perform well in the Premier League, Wilson fits that bill. When you compare Wilson with similar profiles on the continent, costing far bigger transfer fees with no record in the Premier League, it looks an eminently sensible move.
