Clive Rose via Getty ImagesJune 24, 2026 6:20 am EDT Updated Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign Harry Wilson as a free agent. The Athletic reported on Friday that Leeds were exploring a move to sign the Wales international following the expiration of his contract at Fulham this month. The club have also explored a deal for former Borussia Dortmund attacker Julian Brandt.Wilson is now set to arrive at Elland Road on a free transfer he was heavily pursued by Leeds in 2025. Leeds sources with knowledge of the situation, speaking anonymously to protect relationships, said they expected the competition to be fierce for such high-level players who could arrive for free.Wilson was an important figure for Fulham last campaign, in what was the most productive season of his career, appearing in 36 of the side’s Premier League games and recording 10 goals and seven assists.
Leeds attempted to sign the 29-year-old last summer on deadline day, though a deal collapsed after a deal sheet was not collapsed before the 7 p.m. deadline. Leeds sources briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity, indicated Fulham’s portion of the deal sheet was not completed before the deadline, while Fulham sources indicated the club had made clear to Leeds that Wilson was not for sale.Following his stoppage-time winner against Brighton & Hove Albion in January — his third goal in a run of four games — former Fulham head coach Marco Silva said Fulham have “to do the maximum to keep” Wilson beyond the expiry of his contract.Wilson is a product of Liverpool’s academy and spent 16 years at the club, having joined aged eight. He made over 60 appearances for the under-21 team and was considered among the brightest prospects in the academy but made just two first-team appearances for Liverpool. He had loan spells at six different clubs before joining Fulham permanently in 2022.He has won 69 international caps with Wales, scoring 17 goals in that time.Jun 24, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern.
