But beyond the sporting spectacle, the world’s most famous cycling race doubles as one of the greatest travel showcases on earth.
The 113th edition of the Tour de France runs from July 4 to July 26, beginning with the Grand Départ in Barcelona, Spain, before concluding with its traditional finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
As 176 riders from 22 teams tackle more than 3,000 kilometres across 21 stages, audiences are treated to postcard-perfect views of bustling cities, charming villages, rolling vineyards and towering mountain peaks.
