Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg on Wednesday conducted joint field inspection and held a review meeting to discuss the project - Systematic Augmented Radial Traffic & Hoop Induction (SARTHI), an AI-based Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) aimed at making traffic management in the city more efficient through advanced technology.Representatives of Keltron, the ITMS developer, gave a detailed presentation on the project design, AI-based traffic analytics, traffic management at major junctions, vehicle movement monitoring, signal optimisation, real-time traffic monitoring, and other technological features. Later, the officials evaluated traffic flow and junction management at Maddilapalem Junction, and examined the practical implementation of AI-based traffic management solutions.Speaking about the plan, Mr Ketan Garg said that the primary objectives of Project SARTHI is to reduce traffic congestion at major junctions across the city, efficiently manage traffic signal timings based on real-time vehicular movement, provide priority passage for emergency service vehicles, enhance road safety, and ensure faster, safer, and uninterrupted transportation facilities for the public.Earlier, Mr Garg inspected the ongoing road widening and development works from Vepagunta to Juttada and Vepagunta to Pinagadi, as part of Bhogapuram Airport Road connectivity.
