Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao conducted a whirlwind tour of Visakhapatnam on Tuesday to inspect key infrastructure projects and review civic issues. The tour began at Yendada Junction, where Mr. Srinivasa Rao explained the need to widen the roads on either side of the National Highway. He said the proposed expansion would ease traffic flow towards Madhurawada and reduce congestion on the Yendada Junction-Visakhapatnam stretch. The Minister and officials later inspected Yendada Lake to explore its beautification. Engineering officials said recreational facilities such as boating could be developed if the lake retained adequate water. Mr. Narayana suggested examining the feasibility of laying a waterproof lining on the lake bed to improve water retention. At Car Shed Junction, the Minister and the MLA walked along the congested stretch to assess traffic conditions. Observing the growing traffic volume, they said widening the adjoining roads would provide a long-term solution to the bottlenecks.Mr. Narayana directed GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg to hold talks with landowners whose properties are obstructing the proposed 100-foot road linking Bakkannapalem with the National Highway and resolve the issue amicably. The Commissioner informed him that the owner of about 4,000 square yards of land between the National Highway and Bakkannapalem Road had sought an alternative land parcel instead of Transferable Development Rights(TDR) as compensation. The Minister and the MLA later visited Vambay Colony in Ward No. 7, where residents sought financial assistance to repair dilapidated houses. Mr. Narayana said the government would examine the request before taking a decision, while Mr. Srinivasa Rao assured the residents that steps would be taken to improve housing conditions in the colony.Later, Mr. Narayana, Mr. Srinivasa Rao and VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat visited the Anna Canteen, sampled the food and directed officials to ensure timely payment of salaries to the canteen staff. The tour concluded with a review meeting at the Madhurawada Zonal Office, where the Minister, the MLA and senior officials, including Mr. Garg and Mr. Bharat, reviewed the progress of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects and discussed measures for their timely implementation.
