A 61-year-old cardamom plantation worker was killed after a tree branch fell on her at Chakkupallam, near Kumily, in Idukki on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Perumai, a resident of Gudalur in Tamil Nadu.According to the police, the incident occurred at Mankavala, near Chakkupallam around 11 a.m. Perumai was harvesting cardamom at a private plantation when a dried branch suddenly fell on her. While the other workers narrowly escaped, Perumai sustained severe head injuries.She was rushed to the Kumily Family Health Centre, but she could not be saved.
