Chinnaponnu of R. Suthipattu hamlet near Thanjavur was killed and Sakunthala of the same hamlet was injured when they were trapped under paddy bags that slid over them at the cover and plinth (CAP) storage point of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation at R. Suthipattu on July 6.Inquiries reveal that the accident took place on Monday morning while the contract workers were engaged in regular work of cleaning and other works at the open storage facility at R. Suththipattu. Suddenly, stacked paddy bags slid and trapping the two women working there.While Chinnaponnu died on the spot, Ms. Sakunthala was moved to the Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital where she was admitted as inpatient.
