A Moruga man was hospitalised after he allegedly accidentally ingested a poisonous substance on Saturday.Police were told that the 31-year-old man accidentally drank a weedicide instead of his drinking water.A police report stated that around 3 p.m., the man was at home in St Mary’s spraying weedicide in his backyard when he drank from his water bottle, which was a similar bottle to the one containing the weedicide.Police were told that it was only after he consumed the weedicide that he realised what had happened. The man raised an alarm with his relatives, who contacted the St Mary’s Police Station.Officers responded and conveyed him to the Princes Town District Health Facility.The man was later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital for further treatment.Police officer seized both the water bottle and the bottle which contained the weedicide from the scene.Relatives told police the man had no previous attempts at suicide.
