A St Catherine man who was charged with assault for allegedly attacking his girlfriend during a dispute and allegedly injecting her with a toxic substance has now been charged with murder as the woman has succumbed.He is 51-year-old Paul Stephenson, also known as 'Pablo', of New Harbour Village, St Catherine.The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Tieah Singh of Old Paisley district in May Pen, Clarendon.The police report that about 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, Stephenson and Singh had an argument.It is alleged that during the dispute, Stephenson used a syringe to inject Singh with a toxic substance and pepper-sprayed her in the face.Following the incident, the accused reportedly transported her to her home in May Pen and left her there.Singh became ill and was taken by a relative to the May Pen Hospital, where she was admitted in serious condition.The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.It was reported that while at the hospital, the woman was informed that the substance she was allegedly injected with was a toxic agricultural chemical.She subsequently died on Thursday, June 11.Stephenson was thereafter charged with murder by the Old Harbour police.- Rasbert TurnerFollow The Gleaner on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram @JamaicaGleaner and on Facebook @GleanerJamaica.
