New Delhi: Heritage Foods Ltd on Wednesday said its paneer is made from pasteurised milk under hygienic conditions, after food safety regulator FSSAI sought an explanation over the labelling of one of the company's products.The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) wrote to Heritage Foods on June 30, asking it to justify the use of the word "Fresh" on the label of its Heritage Fresh Paneer product.Heritage Foods CEO Srideep Kesavan said consumer trust, food safety and regulatory compliance were central to the company's operations, and that Heritage Foods had submitted a detailed response to FSSAI on July 2, addressing the regulator's concerns.Read More: FSSAI notices to Lotte India, Ferns N Petals, Kubera Foods for misleading claimsThe company said it was awaiting further communication from the authority."We would like to clarify that Heritage Paneer is manufactured using pasteurized milk of high quality under hygienic conditions, while preserving the intrinsic nature of the product," Kesavan said in a statement.The company said it does not use preservatives in the product and that the paneer is stored and transported under refrigeration.
