Heritage Foods has clarified that its ‘Fresh Paneer’ claim talks about the product’s “fresh, refrigerated and preservative-free nature”. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently issued a notice to the Hyderabad-based company regarding “misleading claims” regarding its product ‘Fresh Paneer’. It said that the claim ‘Fresh Paneer’ didn’t satisfy the conditions stipulated under Schedule V for the use of the term ‘Fresh’.Responding to the notice, the company said that consumer trust, food safety and regulatory compliance had been central to the way it operated.Concerns raised“We are aware of the concerns raised regarding the labelling of our Heritage Fresh Paneer and have submitted our detailed response to the concerned authority,” it said.“Heritage Paneer is manufactured using pasteurized milk of high quality under hygienic conditions, while preserving the intrinsic nature of the product. As we use no preservatives, we store and transport under refrigerated conditions to ensure that consumers can enjoy the freshness of our safe and hygienic product,” it explained.The product label carried all mandatory declarations including ingredients used, nutritional information, manufacturing date, use-by date, etc. enabling consumers to make an informed choice, Srideep Kesavan, Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Foods Ltd, said in a statement here on Wednesday.Published on July 8, 2026
