T1, the most decorated organization in League of Legends history, fell 1-3 to G2 Esports on July 8 in the lower bracket of the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational.
For the first time ever, T1 has finished outside the top four at a major international tournament. A team with six World Championship titles and two MSI trophies just got bounced before the semifinals on home soil in Daejeon, South Korea.
A dynasty stumbles where it least expected to
T1 qualified as the LCK’s second seed after a runner-up finish in the 2026 LCK Road to MSI. Their play-in stage performance was dominant, a clean 3-0 sweep that included wins over Team Liquid and Karmine Corp.
G2 Esports dismantled T1 across four games. The 1-3 scoreline exposed vulnerabilities T1 hasn’t historically shown on the international stage.
