The disciplinary action was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe.
The Delta State Police Command has announced the demotion of two police officers after they were found guilty of extortion and other disciplinary offences following an orderly room trial over a viral video showing them receiving money from a motorist through a Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal inside a police station.
The disciplinary action was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, upheld the findings of the orderly room proceedings involving Inspector Augustine Jeremiah and Corporal Miracle Ehirim of 'C' Division, Asaba.
The officers were captured in a viral video receiving money from a motorist through a POS terminal within the station on January 13, 2026. The video attracted public attention and renewed concerns over allegations of extortion by some police personnel, prompting an internal disciplinary process by the Command.
