EFF leader Julius Malema has been named in court papers at the Madlanga Commission, alleging that he colluded with Crime Intelligence head Maj-Gen. Feroz Khan in an effort to remove one of the SAPS generals.
Evidence presented at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday implicated EFF leader Julius Malema in an alleged plot to oust former Crime Intelligence Inspector-General Isaac Dintwe involving Major-General Feroz Khan and suspected tobacco smuggler Mohammed ‘Mo’ Sayed.
Khan, recovering in hospital after a suspected assassination attempt last month, was absent from the proceedings.
WhatsApp chats between the trio suggested the plot involved Malema tabling parliamentary questions to Dintwe and then Police Minister Bheki Cele about alleged contact with convicted drug lord Timmy Marimuthu and discussions of Crime Intelligence.
The questions for Cele also covered the inspector-general of Intelligence, the ousting of General Peter Jacobs, and an alleged plot involving former president Jacob Zuma and Khan to use state intelligence to back Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for ANC president.
