EFF leader Julius Malema was named in the evidence presented at the Madlanga Commission this week.
The name of EFF leader Julius Malema came up under scrutiny at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry this week when WhatsApp chats between suspended Crime Intelligence boss Major-General Feroz Khan and tobacco executive Mohamed Sayed were shown.
Evidence leader Advocate Matthew Chaskalson said on Tuesday the commission’s investigators extracted data from Khan’s cellphone covering the period between 2020 and 2023.
The damning evidence presented in the WhatsApp chats showed, among other things, that Khan coordinated a plan with Malema through Sayed to remove former Inspector-General of Intelligence Setlhomamaru Dintwe.
The commission heard that Khan provided confidential case information, which Malema was not entitled to.
