Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi said her department will establish priority courts to deal with matters requiring urgent attention on illegal foreign nationals when the need arises.

Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi said special courts may be considered should the need arise in cases of violence meted out against illegal foreign nationals.

On Tuesday, Kubayi said the courts will use the existing staff and resources to deal with cases opened against those people accused of committing violence against illegal foreign nationals.

Responding to MK Party MP Zwelakhe Mthethwa, Kubayi said the lower courts are adequately capacitated to deal with matters involving violence against non-South Africans, whether legally or illegally present in the country.

“The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development continuously monitors court performance and caseload trends to ensure that courts remain capable of responding effectively to fluctuations in case volumes.
