Emergency responders have contained all wildfire hotspots caused by the crash of Russian drones in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
According to Ukrinform, the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve announced this on Facebook.
The fire situation within the Chornobyl Reserve has now stabilized. All wildfire hotspots have been contained. Smoldering tree stumps and peat bogs remain in several isolated areas, but these are under constant monitoring by firefighting units, the statement said.
For more than a week, personnel from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the fire service of the state specialized enterprise Pivnichna Pushcha, employees of the Chornobyl Reserve, and specialists from other organizations under the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management worked continuously to combat the fires.
According to the reserve, firefighters operated around the clock under extremely challenging conditions, including intense heat, strong winds, and heavy smoke, to prevent the fires from spreading.
