I had to fight hard for that one, coming from the back of the grid! But I came a little bit short in the end. I felt like I had it nicely under control just before the Full Course Yellow, so obviously I think we could have kept it until the line if it had been a green [flag] race to the end. Just after the Full Course Yellow, I didn't have the grip from the tyres as before.”“So I obviously wanted a bit more, but I'm just super happy for the team, to deliver a podium in probably the most important race of the year for them here in Shanghai. It's great to see all the Envision Racing people and employees here during the weekend. Very happy with our first podium, we showed great performance today," he added.Joel Eriksson opens up on his maiden podiumJoel Eriksson shared a post on Instagram to mark his maiden podium. He wrote alongside a picture of himself with the trophy, “First podium in @fiaformulae! So close to get the win, but the late yellow allowed the track to dry out and as we were on a higher tire pressure we just didn’t have the grip in the dry conditions at the end. Great to see both cars finish in the top five at the team’s home race. Thanks team @envisionracing.”Congratulating him, Andretti driver Jake Dennis wrote: “Mega bro! Congrats.” A comment from Jaguar TCS Racing also read: “You deserve this one.” A fan also wrote: “Proud of you Joel! Looking forward to you doing the same, if not better, at London when we’re there.”A video also showed Eriksson sitting quietly after the podium celebrations. “Consider this your invite to the Eriksson afterparty somewhere in Sweden,” Envision Racing captioned the video.A fan reacted to the post, “Congrats mate! I'll bring the Swedish Juicagrogg to the party! Cheers!” Another wrote: “So proud of you Joel. What a nice trophy it is.”The Formula E drivers will return to racing in Tokyo after three weeks.
