Renaldo Leaner, fourth in the pecking order of Bafana Bafana golakeepers at the moment, is set lightup competition at Kaizer Chiefs.
The arrival of Renaldo Leaner could spell mixed fortunes for Kaizer Chiefs and long-serving goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma.
Leaner joined Amakhosi on Monday, instantly bolstering the goalkeeping department. The 28-year-old arrives with a wealth of top-flight experience, having enjoyed notable stints with Cape Town Spurs, Maritzburg United, and most recently, Sekhukhune United.
Leaner experienced incredible highs last season. His impressive performances for Sekhukhune United caught the eye of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos just weeks before the FIFA World Cup.
However, a tough outing against Stellenbosch FC – where two costly mistakes proved decisive – ultimately cost him a spot in the final World Cup squad by a whisker. Broos instead opted for Sipho Chaine and Ricardo Goss as backups to Ronwen Williams.
