The European Parliament has given the green light to revised air passenger regulations, granting travellers new rights, including free cabin baggage, streamlined refunds, and guaranteed seating for families.
The reform, approved on Tuesday with 646 votes in favour, 12 against, and three abstentions, maintains the current compensation system for delayed flights. Passengers will still be entitled to compensation of up to €600 if their flight is delayed by more than three hours, cancelled less than 14 days in advance, or if they are denied boarding.
Smaller airlines opposed the now approved reform earlier this year, particularly regarding compensation for delayed flights and a free cabin bag, according to Reuters.
