Wizz Air has introduced two new direct routes from Sofia to Palermo in Italy and Tirana in Albania, expanding its network from Bulgaria. The first flights on the new connections took off on July 4, 2026, with tickets available through the airline’s website and mobile application starting at €19.99 for the Palermo route and €24.99 for Tirana.
The new Sofia-Palermo route offers travelers access to Sicily’s capital, a city known for its mix of Arab, Norman and Baroque influences. Palermo attracts visitors with its historic architecture, impressive churches, traditional markets and local cuisine. Among its most popular attractions are Palermo Cathedral, the Norman Palace and Palatine Chapel, Teatro Massimo, as well as the Ballaro and Vucciria markets.
The airline’s new connection to Tirana provides Bulgarian travelers with easier access to Albania’s capital, which has become one of the most popular destinations in the Balkans in recent years. The city is known for its colorful buildings, lively public spaces and cultural landmarks, including Skanderbeg Square, the Etem Bey Mosque and the Blok district, famous for its restaurants, cafes and nightlife. Its location also makes Tirana a convenient starting point for trips to the Adriatic coast and Albania’s mountain areas.
