An awareness event organised by the Singappenn Special Force team at a government school here has unearthed three incidents of sexual harassment that led to filing of cases against the perpetrators.After the Singappenn Special Force team conducted the awareness programme in Palamadai Government Higher Secondary School on Monday (July 6), the victims, who were otherwise not aware of the effective strategy to be adopted against the trauma they were undergoing, poured out their ordeals with the women police personnel.After a 14-year-old girl told the police about the ‘inappropriate touches’ by a family friend when she was alone at home, Tirunelveli Rural All Women Police were alerted. A case has been registered.The police also registered a case against a person who sexually harassed a 16-year-old girl after meeting her on a social media platform.Investigations are on against a person, who allegedly indecently morphed the photo of a 15-year-old girl.In all the cases, the parents of the victims were not aware of the ordeals their children were undergoing, the police said.“The identities of the victims will be protected at every level, and the sexual harassment, sexual assault victims or the girls facing personal or online threats should be reported with the police, who will initiate appropriate action,” the police said.
