A Singappen Special Force (SSF) team has arrested a 49-year old man within the limits of Ambasamudram All Women Police station on Wednesday for allegedly sexually harassing a schoolgirl from his locality.According to a press statement, the SSF team conducted an awareness programme for female students at a school in Ambasamudram on safety of women and children, prevention of sexual offences and importance of reporting such incidents without fear.During the programme, a sub-inspector of the SSF team shared her contact number with the students and advised them to contact her without any hesitation if they faced any problem or wished to report any complaint. Subsequently, a schoolgirl, who attended the awareness programme, contacted the sub-inspector and reported that Kannan, 49, a resident in her locality, had been repeatedly subjecting her to sexual harassment.Upon receiving the complaint, the SSF team responded swiftly, rushed to the spot, conducted inquiry and arrested Kannan.
