The multi-stage funeral procession for Ali Khamenei, the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, continued in the early hours of Tuesday, July 7, as his body was transferred to Qom for another funeral prayer ceremony at Jamkaran Mosque.

According to official Islamic Republic media reports, Abdullah Javadi Amoli, a prominent grand ayatollah, led the funeral prayer over the bodies of Ali Khamenei and four members of his family who were killed in the attack on the Supreme Leader’s residence. The ceremony was attended by a group of regime loyalists at Jamkaran Mosque.

Before the ceremony, Ali Khamenei’s body was transported to Qom by helicopter on Monday evening. Iranian state television broadcast footage of the helicopter carrying his coffin landing, and domestic media outlets aired aerial videos of the venue, though none provided an estimate of the number of attendees.

Coinciding with the transfer of the body to Qom, Islamic Republic authorities implemented extensive security measures. According to official announcements, Tehran’s airspace was temporarily closed to facilitate the transfer.

Videos published from the ceremony in Qom also show the presence of members of the Fatemiyoun Division, a militia composed of Afghan Shia fighters backed by the Islamic Republic. Holding flags and chanting slogans in support of the regime, the group took part in the event to “pledge allegiance to the Leader of the Revolution.”
