Madlanga Commission and the Presidency are in talks over the extension of the inquiry.

Madlanga Commission has entered discussions with the Presidency over a possible extension of its deadlines as growing pressure mounts to complete its high-profile inquiry on schedule.

Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels confirmed on Tuesday that engagements with the presidency were underway, saying the inquiry is battling an increasingly demanding workload.

“So, I certainly can confirm that we are in engagement with the Presidency,” Michaels told journalists on the sidelines of the commission's proceedings.

He said commissioners remain under significant pressure as they work through a lengthy list of witnesses and evidence before public hearings are due to conclude on July 31.
