The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, says no fewer than 161 persons died in 415 road crashes across the state between January and May 2026.
The command’s spokesperson, Mr Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Ota, Ogun State.
Odunsi said that within the period under review, 1,007 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crashes.
He also said that, compared with the 494 road traffic crashes recorded during the corresponding period in 2025, the 415 crashes recorded in 2026 represented a decrease of 79.
He further said the number of deaths declined from 212 in the corresponding period of 2025 to 161 in 2026.
