The Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has dismissed reports claiming that its state executive committee was dissolved and replaced with a caretaker committee by the party’s national leadership.
Speaking with PUNCH Online on Monday, the Kano State Chairman of the ADC, Musa Ungogo, described the claim as false and unconstitutional, insisting that no such decision had been communicated to the state chapter.
Ungogo was reacting to a press conference addressed earlier on Monday in Kano by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North-West), Hajiya Najaatu Mohammed, who announced the dissolution of the state executive and the constitution of a caretaker committee headed by Alhaji Umar Bala.
However, the state chairman said the purported action lacked constitutional backing and questioned why Kano was singled out.
“There is no truth in the claim that the Kano State executive has been dissolved. No such decision has been communicated to us by the party’s national leadership,” Ungogo told our correspondent.
