The National Freedom Party's provincial chairperson Mbali Shinga is facing fresh accusations from her party that she is frustrating her disciplinary appeal despite the party complying with a court order.

The National Freedom Party (NFP) has accused its KwaZulu-Natal provincial chairperson and the party's only representative in the provincial legislature, Mbali Shinga, of deliberately delaying her disciplinary appeal while insisting it has complied with a court order granting her the right to challenge the matter.

In a letter dated 5 July and signed by Secretary-General Bheki Xaba, the party rejected allegations made by Shinga in a WhatsApp message and outlined what it described as a timeline of events leading up to her appearance before the National Working Committee (NWC).

According to the letter, Shinga was advised on June 22 to submit her appeal to the NWC within five calendar days but allegedly failed to do so.

The NFP further said she was notified on 3 July that her appeal would be heard on 4 and 5 July in Durban and that the venue was confirmed on the same day.
