President Cyril Ramaphosa has told the Western Cape High Court he will "suffer severe harm" if he is subjected to the Impeachment Committee proceeding before the legality of the Section 89 Independent Panel report is decided.
The court is expected to hear arguments next week in Ramaphosa's urgent bid to stop Parliament's Impeachment Committee from proceeding with its inquiry until his application to review and set aside the Independent Panel's report has been determined.
Despite the pending court battle, committee members are due over the next week to submit the names of possible evidence leaders and recommendations for the inquiry's terms of reference.
The committee and several other respondents have already filed answering affidavits opposing the interdict. However, Ramaphosa's legal team last week filed their heads of argument, responding to several of the issues raised.
