For the first time in World Cup history, three nations co-hosted the planet’s biggest sporting event. None of them made it past the round of 16.
Canada, Mexico, and the United States have all been knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The host nations are gone, and the bracket moves on without them.
Canada went first, falling 3-0 to Morocco. Mexico followed, losing 3-2 to England. The United States then completed the sweep, eliminating the final co-host from contention.
A historic tournament with a historically awkward subplot
The 2026 World Cup was already a landmark event before a single ball was kicked. It is the first edition to feature 48 teams, up from the previous 32-team format, and the first ever shared across three countries simultaneously.
