The Yobe State Government has said sustained investments in transportation infrastructure, agricultural markets and value addition under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni are strengthening the state’s economy, improving market access for farmers and expanding commercial opportunities across the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, disclosed this during an exclusive interview with Arewa PUNCH while highlighting the administration’s achievements in agriculture, commerce and infrastructure, saying the government has continued to invest in projects capable of driving long-term economic growth.

According to him, agriculture remains the backbone of Yobe’s economy, making it imperative for government to complement increased agricultural production with infrastructure that enables farmers to access profitable markets and maximise the value of their produce.

Goje explained that the administration adopted an integrated approach to economic development by investing in transport infrastructure, agricultural processing facilities and modern markets to strengthen the agricultural value chain.

He noted that beyond increasing food production, the government’s objective was to ensure that farmers earned better incomes through improved market access, reduced post-harvest losses and greater opportunities for value addition.
