Deputy police commissioner Lieutenant-General Sindile Mfazi died on July 8, 2021.

Police have raided various properties linked to members from the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Centurion in relation to the death of deputy national commissioner of crime detection, Sindile Mfazi.

The official explanation for his death was that Mfazi died “due to Covid-19-related complications” in 2021.

Mfazi died at the time he was investigating the Secret Services Account in connection with the R1.6 billion Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipment.

Speaking to the SABC on Monday, SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said police raided two properties in Gauteng, and they are currently interviewing a person of interest.
