A court in Nellore on Monday (July 6, 2026) sentenced a woman and her paramour to life imprisonment along with a fine of ₹50,000 each for murdering her husband in 2021. VII Additional District Judge K. Venkata Naga Pavan on Monday awarded the punishment to Kalatturu Manasa and Ravi Varma from Gudur.According to the case details, the deceased, Kalatturu Rupesh, was a private electrician living in Gudur with his wife, Manasa, who was having an affair with Ravi Varma. She, with the help of Ravi, murdered Rupesh by striking him repeatedly on the head with an iron rod during the night of February 18, 2021. Based on a complaint, the then Sub-Inspector of Gudur One-Town, Saidulu, registered a case, while the then Circle Inspector (CI), G. Dasaradha Rama Rao, conducted the investigation.District SP Dr. Ajitha Vejendla commended Public Prosecutor Kothapalli Vasantha Kumar for effectively arguing the case, Gudur Town-I CI K. Sekhar Babu for supervising the proceedings, and Court Liaison Officer ASI D. Mallikarjun for his role.The Court Monitoring System (CMS) being implemented by the district police, along with ensuring the timely appearance of witnesses in court and effective coordination with the prosecution, played a pivotal role in securing the conviction, the SP said.She stated that the district police are continuously striving to ensure justice for victims and secure severe punishments for the accused by effectively monitoring every case through the CMS, thereby preventing perpetrators from evading the law.
