July 6 (UPI) -- England midfielder Jordan Henderson sustained a serious wrist injury while celebrating with teammates after a World Cup victory over Mexico.

Henderson fell over an advertising board as the Three Lions celebrated behind a goal Sunday at Mexico City Stadium. His status is now in question for a quarterfinal meeting with Norway.

"He injured his wrist," England manager Thomas Tuchel told reporters. "He is at the moment at the hospital, so it's a quite serious injury.

"It just doesn't fit to the evening that Jordan is now not with us. I don't know the procedure or what's going on."
