As Michael Hollick produced a stunning eagle at the 72nd hole to claim his maiden DP World Tour (DPWT) title at the BMW International Open in Germany on Sunday, South African golfers celebrated a remarkable seventh victory on the European circuit this season.
Hollick, a surprise winner at the age of 39, added his name to a rapidly growing list of South African champions.
In fact, Hollick edged compatriot Hennie du Plessis to the title after Du Plessis bogeyed his penultimate hole to finish one shot back on 17-under-par.
The disappointing finish means Du Plessis is still searching for his maiden DP World Tour victory.
